WHAT IS THE NRDC QA APP?

The NRDC QA Application is a cross-platform mobile and web application. It is being designed as a generalized, user-facing tool for recording metadata, but with a more specific goal of aiding Nevada Environmental Scientists to have better efficiency in the field.

METADATA MANAGEMENT

Metadata -- data about data. It can be used to define relationships, filter information, and provide powerful insight into research. Compiling data that is normally not specific to a domain but is relevant, is the purpose of the NRDC Quality Assurance Application.

This application allows multiple users to manage and contribute their significant metadata to a centralized database without conflicts. It’s dynamic design allows for users to tailor the application to their research and business needs with a flexible hierarchical navigation and data fields populated based on metadata important to the user. The unique offline functionality allows users to utilize the application’s streamlined service even from remote locations--just save information to the application and send it when a connection can be established.

Previously, managing big data for the NRDC included multiple steps and would increase the chance of error when transferring between platforms. Users were required to manually record information, then enter it into some spreadsheet software. Later, the data is uploaded to a database, line by line. Our application allows for an efficient process without all the extra steps and adds additional functionality such as document sharing or photography.

Minimize errors with this sleek approach to metadata management with the NRDC Quality Assurance Application.
